Here’s a YouTube video that shares what to expect at the Lagos Intl Airport.
If questioned upon arrival, do not say you are there for a wedding. Simply say you are there to visit a friend. If asked how much money you have on you, or if you have anything for them, say you have none.
You can fill out this Health Declaration form in advance to get a barcode and avoid a line: https://healthapp.ncdc.gov.ng/
Ground Transportation to and from the airport
Please be sure to fill out this google form once your travel is booked, as we are planning ground transportation for you.
Weather
The weather in Lagos in January ranges from 85-92 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and in the 70s at night. Make sure to pack appropriately.
Packing List
Bring a BROWN outfit (dress to impress) to wear to the Introduction Ceremony on Jan 10, 2025
Mosquito Repellent (April recommends this one to spray on your clothing; make sure the spray you choose contains DEET)
Sunscreen
Portable Fan (Amazon link)
Electrical outlet adapters (use US to UK plug adapters, like this)
Portable charger pack for your phone
Sunglasses
Bathing suit for the beach
Flats or wedges for walking around town (no heels!)
Snacks
Anti-diarrhea meds
Crispy $1s, $5s, $10s for the wedding gifts (bridal spray)!
Packing Tip: Place non-valuable items like underwear and bras on top of your luggage. If your luggage is inspected, and the officers see something valuable, they may attempt to con money out of you. They will not usually dig through your luggage.
Vaccinations:
There are no vaccinations required for Nigeria, but the CDC makes the following recommendations for travelers from the US:
Yellow fever vaccine (at least 10 days before travel)
Typhoid vaccine (this is oral, 4 pills to be taken every other day, and finished at least a week before arrival)
Malaria pills (start 1-2 days before travel and continue for 7 days after you return).
If you are going to Ghana as well, you will need a yellow fever vaccine. It is required for entry. You can get it upon arrival at the Ghana airport for $25.
